ROTARY CLUB LAS PINAS EAST STAGES AGE GROUP CHESS IN MOA

THE Rotary Club Las Pinas East Age-Group Chess Championships will be held on Saturday, September 18 at the second floor Entertainment Mall South Wing in SM Mall of Asia (MOA), Pasay City.

Hosted by Rotary Club Las Piñas East, Rotary International District 3830 will be held as part of the association’s youth development program.

At stake are trophies and cash prizes. National Arbiters Alex Dinoy and Boy Rabe will be supervise the said chessfest.

The age-group championships will have four divisions–16-under, 14-under, 12-under and 10-under.

Eligible to participate are 16-under (Born 1994 or before), 14-under (Born 1996 or before), 12-under (Born 1998 or before) and 10-under (Born year 2000 or before).

Cash prizes are P3,000 and trophy to the champion, P2,000 and trophy to the runner-up, P1,000 and trophy to the third placer and P500 to the fourth placer.

A maximum of 128 participants will only be accepted per division. Once the maximum number of participant is reached, registration for said division will be closed. This will be a first come first serve basis.

TOURNAMENT MECHANICS:

This tournament is open to all children 16 years old and under

Entry Fee is Php 100 each participant.

Tournament Format & Time Control

Tournament Format
The tournament shall be divided into four (4) divisions namely,

a. Under 10
b. Under 12
c. Under 14
d. Under 16

A maximum of 128 participants will only be accepted per division. Once the maximum number of participant is reached, registration for said division will be closed. This will be a first come first serve basis.

The FIDE Laws of Chess, particularly the Laws on Rapid Chess, shall govern the tournament. The competition shall be a SEVEN ROUND swiss system, Recording of moves is optional.

Time Control is 25 minutes per player.

Tie Breaks

The following tie break system shall be applied in descending order to determine the final ranking of players after the tournament:
a. Direct encounter
b. Buchholz System
c. Sonnenborne- Berger (S.B) System
d. Sum of Progressive Score
e. More number of games won/ Total number of wins.

This is an OPEN TOURNAMENT to all CHESS PLAYERS according to AGE GROUPS.

Assembly is at 7AM. Participants can already proceed to 2nd Floor of SM for groupings and briefing. Contest Proper starts at exactly 10AM.
