ROUND 9 PAIRINGSROUND 8 RESULTS
2 Comments:
One thing clear: we really need to address the country's training program for our elite and young aspiring players!
Our neighbors, particularly Vietnam is moving up. Imagine a comprehensive program in chess in schools and a national training venue for their talents.
As for China, they are miles away from us. AND IT IS THE PHILIPPINES THAT FIRST INTRODUCED CHESS TO THEM UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF FLORENCIO CAMPOMANES.
His parting words "Don't let decades of (chess) effort be wasted just because of a narrow view in chess development"
Maybe he meant too much tournaments, and no real preparation and training; plus long term grassroots development.
Well, it shows how our players fare...

I thought Senador have already earned the IM title?
