FEU’s Junior pride Vince Angelo Medina scored 2 points in the last two round to emerged as the overall champion in the just concluded 2010 PACE Kiddies Chess Championship held last May 1, 2010 at the 2nd Floor of PACE HQ 56 Mindanao Ave., Project 6, Quezon City.
Medina, a young boy from bacoor caviteño defeated Enrica Villa in 58 moves of Sicilian Closed Variation in the last round which kep him on top for perfect score out of seven games and took the championship cash of P 2,500 with an elegant trophy. Posted in the 2nd place went to Jeremiah Alfonso who earns P 1,500 plus a medal, 3rd place Ahvix Alfonso and 4th place Normel Benigno De Jesus of Sta. Maria, Bulacan that share equally the P 1,800 plus a medal each. 5th went to Enrica Villa P 500 plus medal while the 6th to 10th place receiving P 300 are Paul Robert Evangelista, Janelle Mae Frayna, McDominique Lagula, Aeron Daniel Bucal, Delfin Soriano, Kristian Paulo Cristobal and Anatoly Pascua.
In the category Winners, they are: Top Under 8- Francisco Roi Parro, Top Under 10-Aeron Daniel Bucal of Angono, Rizal and the Top Under 14 awarded to Paul Robert Evangelista. All them receive P 500 each. The event is organized by the Philippine Academy for Chess Excellence headed by its founder, GM Jayson Gonzales and supervised by the National Association of Philippine Chess Arbiers (NAPCA) led by NA Boyet Tardecilla assisted by Deputy Arbiters Hermie Medina, Bernard Paat, Daniel Aquino and Dan Valley.
