Anthony Navarro, our correspondent from Laguna, shared with us some notes about the ongoing 2010 National Age-Group Chess Championship in Davao City:
- Michelle Yaon is the lone Laguna entry there in Davao.
- Jerad Docena (Boys U-14) got upset by Engay in Rd2. U-14 is being led by Jacob Literatus and Vince Medina among others and they will have a Round 4 clash this am.
- Michelle had early wins vs Quennie Galinada and Janelle Fraena then succumbed to Dhona Yngayo of Davao.
- So far, only Mira Mirano and Yngayo have perfect 3/3 and will clash in Rd4. Karen Enriquez had some early stumbles and has 1/3.
- Jan Nigel Galan was upset early and leaders in Boys U-16 are Lagula and Annabieza (3/3). Jerad Docena got upset early by surprising Engay who now has 2.5/3.
- Leading Boys U-12 are Paulo Bersamina and Daryl Samantila, with Caranyagan sufferring an early round upset. While Yulo and Dennis Gutierrez Jr are leading in the U-10 with 3/3.
- Stephen Rome Pangilinan,Jeremy Pepito and Joshua Sarchez are pacing
the Boys U-8 with 3/3.
- There are only 6 entries in the Girls U-8 and no games so far.
