Wild, naughty 1.e4

Never toy in the opening with an opponent who fully depends on a chess engine -yes, without a second - in studying his opening preparations.

That's the mistake of the Russian GM Ale Rakhmanov who hoped to surprise GM Wesley So with a wild, naughty opening in Round 4 of Aeroflot Open 2010. Unfortunately for Rahkmanov, he was the one who ended up surprised instead.

As I said in my previous post, Wesley is so wild and naughty with 1.e4. His game with 1.e4 is very entertaining - win or lose - an element that makes great sports heroes.

It's not enough that you're excellent. You must entertain to win the eyes of the world.

Billionaire Manny Pacquiao knows this formula. Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods also know it.

It's not the scores that made Jordan great. It was tongue-out image that brought him to where he is today.

It's not how Tiger sinks the ball to the hole, not even his awesome underpar scores. It was his pumping-fist image that endeared him to the world.

Wesley must adopt the formula - and be among the world's greats.

Let's watch this very entertaining game:
