Torre graces 1st Pasig City Inter-Barangay Team Tourney

Chess legend first Asia’s Grandmaster Eugene Torre confirms his availability to join with the organizers in the ceremonial opening of the 1ST PASIG CITY INTER-BARANGAY CHESS TEAM TOURNAMENT at the compound of Francisco Legaspi Memorial School , Barangay Ugong, Pasig City . This festive event is now being included as one of the sports program of inter-barangay in Pasig City . This project is organized and sponsored by MAYOR ROBERT EUSEBIO, PASIG CITY SPORTS COMMITTEE, COUNCILOR IYO VSRUNCHO, chairman on Sports Program in cooperation with PASIG CITY CHESS ASSOCIATION headed by Rolando Liñan and Franco Camillo.

Around Fifteen (15) Barangay Teams are already in the roster of participating groups in three categories; ELEMENTARY – 8 players; Boys Team (4 players) and Girls Team (4 players), HIGH SCHOOL – 8 players; Boys Team (4 players) and Girls Team (4 players), OPEN – College players or unrated. Attractive prizes awaits the winners.

The tournament will be supervised by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PHILIPPINE CHESS ARBITERS – NAPCA. The event shall be played in Seven(7) Rounds Swiss System with the allotted time of twenty five(25) minutes per player to finish the game.
