World Cup qualifiers

The name of GM Rogelio Antonio is not yet included in the preliminary list of qualifiers for the World Cup issued by FIDE. See the list HERE.

Actually, the names of the 90 qualifiers through Continental and Zonal Championships are yet to be announced.

GM Antonio qualified for this prestigious chess event after finishing among the Top 10 in the Asian Continental Chess Championship which was held in Subic from May 12 to 24.

Filipino aspirants who didn’t make it in Subic still have a chance to play in the World Cup which will be held in in Khanty-Mansiysk from November 20 to December 15 this year.

The last chance for any aspiring Filipino to enter this tournament is to win the Zone 3.3 Zonal Open which will take place in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam from July 22 to July 30.

To date, only 28 qualified players were identified in the list.

What about the name GM Wesley So? Notably, Wesley had already beaten qualifiers No.7, No.8 and No.28 in the list and drew with qualifiers No.3 and No.5.

It’s still possible to see that name in the list. I strongly believe!!
