This is regarding our "5th DWP Mixed Masters Invitational Rapid Chess Tournament" and " 4th DWP Invitational Blitz Chess Tournament" scheduled on August 1-2, 2009, to be held at the Residence Hotel, Gen. Luna St., Iloilo City.
The format of the Mixed Masters Rapid Tournament will be a FIDE-style knockout event where 52 invited players (top 4 players of last year edition are seeded and will play in the 2nd round) will compete for a share of the prize fund totalling over P40.000.00.
Manila players especially masters are welcome to join the tournament to add strength and prestige to the competition.Champion - P12,000.00
Runner-up - P 8,000.00
3rd Place - P 5,000.00
4th Place - P 2,500.00
4 from Quarterfinals @ P1,000 each - P4,000.00
8 from round of 16 @ P500.00 each - P4,000.00
16 from round of 32 @ 200.00 each - P3,200.00
30 from round of 60 @ 100 each - P3,000.00
No registration fee and snacks is free.

Thanks rusticbul. Additional info, NM Rolando Andador won the 1st and 2nd year, while FM Sander Severino won the 3rd and 4th edition. This yearly tournament is being sponsored by Mr. Nonoy Briones, Jess Asiain and their (former) officemates from the Dept. of Water and Power (DWP) in California.
