Dungca tops Regions 1, 2, CAR qualifying tournament

Ryan Dungca (2000) scored 6.0 points out of possible 7.0 to rule the Qualifying Tournament (Regions 1, 2, and CAR) for the 3rd Asian Indoor Games. The tournament was held in Urdaneta, Pangasinan from June 26 to 28.

Seeded No.12 in a 79-player field, Dungca piled up five wins and two draws, halving the point with No.2 seed Belsar Valencia in Round 3 and defeating No.1 seed Merben Roque in Round 4.

Notably, kiddie player Vince Angelo Medina showed what he’s made of by tangling with more veteran players and finished strong with 5.0 points to end up at very respectable No.13 spot.

Also, Pangasinan’s young chess jewel 10-year old Samantha Glo Revita joined the tough battle and finished with 3.5 points.
