Renante Aureada scored 6.0 points in seven rounds to rule the Regional Elimination-Region V qualifying tournament which took place from June 12 to June 14 at Provincial Capitol, Daet, Camarines Norte.
Roger Pesimo also piled up 6.0 points but slid down to second spot due to lower tie break point.
The National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) organized the event as part of a series of regional qualifying tournaments for the 3rd Asian Indoor Games.
The national finals for the selection for the Asian Indoor will be held in Manila from August 26 to September 6.
