Palawan Open

Roughly two weeks after the two international chess tournaments were held in Subic, the battle among the country's top players will resume again when the 8th Gov. Joel T. Reyes Palawan National Open Chess Tournament 2009 goes full swing from June 11 to 15 in Puerto Princesa.

For NCFP-organized events, the months of June and July will be spent mostly on Regional Eliminations for the Asian Indoors.

The hectic schedules of eliminations from northern part of the Philippines (Cordillera Administrative Region) down to the southern part (Region 12) is broken only by the Palawan Open which promises again to be a tough battlefield for our local players.

Here are top finishers last year:

GM Bong Villamayor

IM Richard Bitoon
