RMCHS Kiddie Chess kicks off Sunday

THE first Pineda-Santos-Camer kiddies 14 year old and below rapid chess tournament gets underway on Sunday, September 13 at the Ramon Magsaysay Cubao High School (RMCHS) at Edsa, Cubao, opposite Nepa Q-Mart.

Registration start at 9 am in the three division event (kiddies, womens and non-master), backed up by Sydney-based Angelito “Anji” Camer, Texas- based former two-time Olympian member WNM Cristina Santos and China-based Joel Pineda, in close cooperation with Filway Marketings Inc. CEO/President Hector “Chito” Tagaysay and Dickies Vice President Dody Arcaya.

Reigning RP 12 Under Champion Paulo Bersamina of Meralco Chess Club, the winner of the 1st Meralco Management Leadership Development Center Chess Cup last Sunday, is the early favorite of the one-day tournament, which will start after the opening rites at 11 am.

No less than Asia’s First GM Eugene Torre, an RMCHS batch 68 alumni is the guest of honor, in the event also supported by Cebuano sportsman Matias “Bombi” Aznar, Mayor Dental Clinic, Chess Library, Eureka Chess set General Manager Pacito Madrono, Marikina Chess Federation head Johnny “Joel” Gaudia, Meralco Chess Club, Barangay Alabang chairman Victor Ulanday, Dr. Alfred Paez, Dr. Bong Perez, CDC Holdings Inc., Ramon Magsaysay Cubao High School (RMCHS) chess club, g4 chess club and Billiard Philippines.

Other early entries are Jett and JV Cadawas-Marcos of Ateneo de Manila University, Sandro Gotuaco, Lucas, Noah and Liam Ramos of International School-Makati, Giovanni Mejia, Rhal Sol Cruz, Ralp Villaflor, Earl Cabugao, Luke and Dominique de Leon of La Salle Greenhills, Darryl Samantila and Jean Karen Enriquez of Adamson University, Vincent Nasiad, Joshua and Vince Morte of Marist School Marikina,

All kiddie participants must bring their proof of age, like school ID and NSO birth certificate.

The champion in the 14 year old and below kiddies tournament will receive P2,000, while the rest of the top five will receive P1,000, P500, P250 and P250, respectively.

Sixth to 10th placers and youngest participants also receive give aways.
