Milo Little Olympics includes chess

After a very successful opening last week in Manila and Cebu, the focus of intense sports action shifted to Pangasinan and Cagayan de Oro; as the country’s young athletes started their competitions for sports supremacy on Friday in the Milo Little Olympics.

As many as 5,000 student athletes will made their way to the Don Gregorio Pelaez Sports Center in Cagayan de Oro while an estimated 4,000 more trooped to the Don Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center in Lingayen, Pangasinan for athletics, badminton, chess, football, gymnastics, lawn tennis, swimming, sepak takraw, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball in the event which ends on Sunday.

Now on its 22nd year, the three-day meet is aligned with the efforts of Milo to build champions in sports and in life. Last year, as many as 22,000 student athletes from close to 800 schools took part in the event.

To date, products of the MILO Little Olympics in gymnastics, taekwondo, tennis, athletics, and swimming have represented the Philippines in major sports competitions like the South East Asian Games, Word Youth Cup (tennis) and the Asian Junior Track and Field (athletics). Source
