Survey results

First of all, this blogger would like to THANK those who actively participated in the survey "Who do you think will win the Battle of GMs 2009?" Thank you for the time and efforts.

So here are the results:

A total of 44 votes were received, already a decent number although some 150 votes were expected.

So topped the suvey -- as expected -- with 25 votes (56%), followed by Antonio (5), Torre (3), Bitoon (3), Nolte (3), Gomez (2), Dableo (2), and Paragua (1).

Laylo, Buenaventura, Gonzales and Sadorra received no votes.

Interestingly, let's compare the survey results with the actual final rankings.

If you would notice, the top three players in the survey were also the top three finishers in the tournament. And then, the two bottom-last players were also among the four players who received no votes in the survey.

What does this survey really tell us?

Simple: that the chess community is really in-the-know. Nobody, no institution, can fool them around.

The draw in So-Antonio Round 6 match? ONLY the chess community can fool itself around.

Interesting. I did the survey way before the event and this is the result:

"Who do you think will win the BoGMs 2009?"

Wesley So got 60 percent of the votes; Torre, 16; Paragua, 10; and Joey Antonio and John Paul Gomez, 6. Darwin Laylo got naught.

I only included the highest rated-players so your survey should be more accurate. Joey Antonio was the surprise from my end. :)
