Coun. Noel “Onie” Bayona, the main sponsor of the event that was named after him, engages the participants in a highly positive and encouraging aura of chess development in Pasay City.

Coun. Bayona in a warm and friendly gesture of handshake with 11-year old Paulo Bersamina, the young chess pride of Pasay City, gladly offers his hands for the ceremonial move to signal the start of the tournament.

And so the game begins . . . a battle between and among 60 players!!
