Samantila tops Rapid Chess Training Tournament

Daryl Unix Samantila, a 9 year old student of Adamson University was the clear winner in the 2009 RMCHS Kiddies (Under – 12 years old) Rapid Chess Training Tournament held last March 14, 2009 at the Ramon Magsaysay (Cubao) High School (RMCHS) Chess Room.


Samantila finished the tournament with an unscatched record of 5 wins to cap the chess crown.

Tied for 2ND to 4TH places were Jose Carlo Castro of Sta. Quiteria Elementary School , Paulo Bersamina of La Salle Greenhills and Philip Uy of Bloomfield Academy .

Three players were given awards for the top 10 years old and under, namely Alexis Anne Oseña, Noel Geronimo and John Vasilly Datu.

The top 6 years old and under belong to sole winner Liam Ramos of International School . The chief arbiter of the tournament was NM / IA Erwin Carag.
