3rd Dr. Jose Leviste Sr. Inter-School Chess Festival

MANILA, Philippines - Quezon City Mayor Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte will be the guest of honor and speaker during the closing ceremony of the third Dr. Jose Leviste Sr. Inter-School Chess Festival set March 21-22 at the Ateneo Grade School Cafeteria in Ateneo, QC.

An annual project of the Ateneo grade school, high school and collegiate teams under IM Idelfonso Datu, the all-student, non-master tournament is held in honor of Ateneo alumnus Dr. Jose Leviste Sr. (HS ’33, AA ’35), and supported by Enerasia Renewables Corp., Fonemed Asia Pacific, Italpinas Design and Development, Grand Placement, Adidas Philippines and the Ateneo University Athletics Office.

The event, a nine-round, Swiss system tournament, is open to all untitled grade school and high school students.

Alcon Paul Datu of University of the East and members of the Letran, LICS and Philippine College of Criminology chess teams head the early roster of entries.
