Daryl Unix Samantila of Tonsuya, Malabon City and Israelito Rilloraza of Paranaque emerged champion in their respective divisions of the 1st Bangkal Kiddies Age-Group Chess Tournament Sunday night at the Bangkal Elementary School in Makati City.
The 11 years old Samantila, top player of Adamson University head coach Christopher Rodriguez tallied 4.5 points to enroute 14 Under Kiddies category title.
"Masayang-masaya po ako sa pagkapanalo ko," said Samantila, who is fresh from a back to back victory in the 2011 Pangasinan National Age Group Chess Championship in Lingayen, Pangasinan and 2011 Davao National Age Group Chess Championship in Davao City.
Samantila who is schedule to represnt the country in the Asian Youth Championship in Subic set May 14-22 and Asean+ Age Group Chess Championship in Takaran, Indonesia set June 11 to 20 wil seeing in action in the 2011 Palarong Pambansa in Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte set May 8 to 14 playing for National Capital Region (NCR) Elementary chess team.
At second place is Michelle Yaon of Calamba, Laguna with 4 points followed by Angelo Manansala of Quezon City at 3rd with 3.5 points.
In the 10 Under Kiddies category, Israelito won tie break points against fellow 5.5 pointers Joshua Tan of Makati for the title.
