MALIBAY NON-MASTER OPEN CHESS TOURNEY ON MAY 14

IT’S all systems go for the staging of the 2011 San Juan Nepomuceno Non-Master Open Chess Tournament on May 14 in Malibay, Pasay City.

According to tournament organizer barangay captain Danny Francisco, the one-day event held coincide the celebration of San Juan Nepomuceno Feast, open to all non-master chess players.

"We do this to promote chess in the grass-roots level," said barangay captain Danny Francisco.

At stake are cash prizes:

Non-Master Open -- P6,000 (champion), P4,000 (runner-up), P2,000 (third placer), P1,000 (fourth placer), P800 (fifth) and P500 (sixth to 10 th placers).

Category winners for the top kiddies, lady, seniors and barangay 169 Malibay also receive P1,000 each. Registration fee is P250. Free lunch and snacks.
