Let me put it plain and simple: the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) made the right move by sending the all-lady Team LWUA-C to the just concluded 2011 Inter-Provincial Chess Team Championship that was held in the beautiful Kalibo, Aklan.

Very beautiful indeed - this move by LWUA, the result, and of course the ladies.

Seeded No.10 in a field of 28 teams, this team finished ninth in overall ranking, well ahead of other teams that are composed of veteran and male campaigners.

Composed of WNM Jedara Docena (Board 1), WNM Christy Lamiel Bernales (Board 2),WFM Cherry Ann Mejia, and WNM Mikee Charlene Suede, this team more than proved their worth and deserved more support from government and private institutions concerned.

Let me focus the spotlight to WFM Mejia and WNM Suede for their excellent performance in their respective Boards, both scoring 6.5 points to tie from 4th to 17th places in individual output in a 133-player strong field.

The National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) and LWUA could never be wrong by investing in our youth, especially in our ladies. That's the best move, indeed!
