NCAA 2009 Round 7

DEFENDING champion Colegio San Juan de Letran blasted San Beda College, 4-0, to strengthen their title bids in the JuniorS division after the seventh round of 85th season National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Chess Team Championships at the ground floor Cyberzone area in SM City, Manila on Saturday.

Letran raised their total 20.0 points, toe tied with last year’s runner-up San Sebastian College-Recoletos, who took a bye in the seventh round.

CSB-De La Salle Greenhills also routed Jose Rizal University, 4-0, to climb into solo third place with 17.5 points, two points ahead of fourth place University of Perpetual Help Dalta System which beat Mapua Institute of Technology,2.5-1.5, for a total 15.5 points. Also with 4-0 wins is Emilio Aguinaldo College against Arellano University.

In the Seniors division, last year’s title-holder De La Salle-College of St. Benilde crushed Jose Rizal University, 3.5-0.5, to remain on top with 19.0 points. MARLON BERNARDINO
