Our reader Batilsky, the owner of the No.1 Philippine chess site pinoychess.informe.com shared a valuable information that IM Ronald Dabelo only needs to win his final round of DATMO 2009 to gain his final GM norm.
If Dableo wins, hopefully, he will be the 12th(?) GM of the Philippines. Dableo's campaign in the tournament is highlighted by his Round 4 conquest of Asian Zonal 3.3 2009 champion GM Darwin Laylo.
The mission, however, is a tall order. Already with 6.0 points after Round 8 and tied for 2nd to 10th place with eight other players, Dableo will play Black on Board 5 against GM Susanto Megaranto of Indonesia.
Based on chessgames.com's database, Dableo and Megaranto has not yet met each other over the board. For sure, it will be an exciting game to watch out for.
May Dableo - finally - snatch his GM title. Let's all pray for him.

bro, i;m pretty sure that they have met before...dableo defeated megaranto in the 2003 asian zonals which we eventually won..kaya yan bro! kung puti nga, sure na halos, sa itim, kaya din yan...
