"A luminary in world chess," that's how the Philippine Daily Inquirer honored the late former FIDE President Florencio Campomanes who, together with Philippine pool legend Efren "Bata" Reyes, was recently inducted in the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Hall of Fame.
The Philippine national men's chess team also received the "Major Awardees" honor. I'm not sure, but I think the award was anchored on the team's strong No.2 (Silver Medal) finish in the 2010 Asian games. Members of the team were GM Wesley So, GM Rogelio Antonio, GM Darwin Laylo, GM John Paul Gomez, and GM Eugene Torre.
