Father of IM Sadorra writes

Mr. Bing Sadorra, the father of IM Julio Catalino Sadorra, granted my request in my previous post to hear some news about his son. Wow, so many good news about Inno. Let's listen to Sir Bing:

Dear Rusticbull,

I regularly view your chess blog and thank you for your chess news.

Julio continues to represent the Philippines in all his tournaments in the US while pursuing an academic degree at the University of Texas Dallas. His latest tournament was the Dec. 27 to 30, 2010 Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Chess Championships in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where his team, the UTD garnered 1st place.

Also, he placed 3rd in the December 2010 UTD GM invitational but he missed a half point to earn his final GM norm. He will be playing another UTD invitational chess, a Scheveningen format, on March 12-19 in Texas (games are expected to be viewed on Monroi chess site).

This will be a preparation for his university team for the final four tournament in Washington D.C. this year and an opportunity to obtain a possible GM norm. You can view chess news about him, his simul game, videos and other details at the UTD chess program site
, http://www.utdallas.edu/chess/ and his games (past and present) at the Monroi chess site.

You can also view him at the UTD chess program on youtube http://www.utdallas.edu/chess/chess-team/team-video.html
He also won first prize for his novelty contribution to the SOS (Secrets of Opening Surprises) Volume 11, New in Chess, http://www.chessville.com/reviews/SOS11.htm

His 2011 summer schedule includes tournaments in the US mainland: Chicago Open, World Open and US Open. Incidentally, he tied for 2nd place in the 2010 US Open, but unfortunately missed his final GM norm because he was not paired against the required number of GMs and titled players.

Blessings,
Bing Sadorra
