Farewell

This is the most painful part of it: saying goodbye.

I missed the mark, dear readers. Remember that I predicted GM Wesley So - the source of inspiration for many Filipinos - to finish in Top 3 of the just concluded 43rd Biel International Chess Festival. I promised that if my forecast went wrong, then I would stop chesswindows blogging for good. Wesley finished the tournament in 5th place. Oh boy, my prediction did just go wrong.

Please don't get me wrong though. Wesley has nothing to do with the death of this blog. It was my prediction that just went wrong.

Men are defined by honoring their words. I am honoring mine. And so this is it.

I just hope that this blog has served its purpose of being a source of even the slightest inspiration for all of you. Through this blog, I have made it my personal mission to fire up the positive side in us. It's my simple way of sparking hope and inspiration in a nation that has perhaps forgotten how it is to dream.

I really appreciate all your clamors for this blog to carry on despite my failed prediction. If ever this blog would continue to serve you, my dear readers, a personal note from GM Wesley So telling me to keep on blogging would keep this blog alive.

Till then.

hey man, you can go on and stop the blog, then create a new one, at least you kept your words. Ganun lang yun, and continue blogging brother, just like before, as we witnessed the death of Malibay Chess Blog (as Chess Windows predecessor). ok lang yun, fighter yung bata natin eh, But Wesley's weaknesses are now showing and he should patch it up as soon as possible, yung transition from middlegame to endgame, medyo lumilitaw yung problema, lalu na pag pinupwersa nya, kasi yung time nagiging problem eh. Kailangan nya pagtuunan ng pansin yun. And with some endgame structures too. its just a 2-cent patzers advice though.

John's right. And at least when you resurrect your blog, you now know your limits. There's nothing wrong about making a prediction as long as it stays that way - a mere prediction. No strings attached. Otherwise, you only bring harm to yourself and, who knows, you might have also inadvertently affected the frame of mind of Wesley. What are the chances of Wesley being a regular reader of your blog? And who knows that he might have been "pressured" to some extent by your "threat" to the point of capitulation? Who knows? I don't. You don't. Majority of your readers don't. So next time, when conjecturing on things that are beyond our comprehension, how about not trying to make it as if it's a life and death situation. In simple terms: keep emotions in check. It's good for you, it's good for Wesley, and it keeps us all happy.
Keep on blogging! It's not the end of the world.

it is clear, RUSTIC wrote " a personal note from GM Wesley So telling me to keep on blogging would keep this blog alive."

So, will someone close to GM Wesley So to do so and it won't take him so much time to do so.

:( I'm sad for you but I too lost...haven't been to a Karaoke since the end of the tournament...but mine does not affect anyone while yours will make a lot of people sad. Hope you can find a way around it.

Pulos kayo ka-ek-ekan!

The fact that your comments are posted here means the blogger is still active!

Magpakatotoo kayo!

This comment may not even find its way to this blog because it is still very much alive!

Pards, aside from being a positive voice in the wilderness, the blog has a public service function. Who will take up the cudgels for our affected chess brethren.

Latest mishap is our Phil Junior champs not being able to represent the country in the World Juniors...
