Salcedo rules Sec. Pangandaman Chess Challenge

Young Richilieu Salcedo III, a former varsity player of Rizal Technological University took the championship trophy of 1st DAR SEC. PANGANDAMAN NON-MASTER 2050 BELOW RAPID last April 11, 2010 at the DAR Multipurpose Cooperative Canteen. Sponsored by DAR Secretary Nasser Pangandaman, DAREA President Nanette Pascual, DARMPC Chairman Romy Somogat and Rotary Club of QC Circle President Butch Madarang.

Salcedo got the champion prize of P 4,000 while the 2nd and 3rd place went to FEU's Sheider Nebato and Lyndon Sombilon with P 2,500 each, respectively. 4th place P 1,000 took by veteran Paterno Pitero of Manila and the 5th to 10th place awarded to Dennis San Juan of Pasig City, Melvin Salutan of Valenzuela Chess Club, PNP Officer Esmael Abas, FEU Christian Arroyo, Imus, Cavite Ryan Dungca, FEU Antonio Chavez, QC Eugene Dimarucut, Rolly Suarez of Makati City and NAPCA, Vince Angelo Medina of FEU, QC Jezrel Lopez and Clement Valeldor of Quiapo-Manila. They shared equally cash of P 2,000.

The category winners are Top Kiddie Vince Angelo Medina P 500, Top Lady Jedara Docena-FEU P500, Top Executive Army Officer Primitivo Virtudazo and Nurse Vic Neil Villanueva.

The event which was attracted by 71 participants “will hold its monthly tournament with a conducive venue and surely will still experience the free lunch with merienda and the free flowing coffee” said by organizer Lito Dormitorio. Tournament was supervised by NA Boyet Tardecilla and NM Mirabeau Maga of the National Association of Philippine Chess Arbiters (NAPCA).
