Narquinden Reyes rules the 27th Edition of 1st Saturday Magnolia Non-Master Chess

“Another feather in his cap” said by the organizer by giving the championship award to Narquinden Reyes of St. Benilde College in just recently concluded 27th Edition of 1st Saturday Magnolia Non-Master Chess Tournament (1950 Below Club Rapid Rating) last April 10, 2010 at 4th Floor Perez Building, Doña Soledad cor. Australia Sts, Better Living, Parañaque City. The event sponsors area Magnolia Health Tea Drinks, Red Ribbon by Donna Negradas, Jollibee, SM Bicutan’s Hypermart, Greenwich, Inasal, Pizza Hut and Shakey’s, Petron Bicutan Branch, Boy Francisco and James Alexander McDade.

Reyes took an elegant championship trophy with P 3,000 while the 2nd and 3rd Place went to Robert Cacho and Sherwin Tiu, respectively. They both received

P 1,500 each. The category winners are Top Senior Reynaldo Pates, Top Kiddie Angelo Perez, Top Lady Jan Jodilyn Fronda P 500 and Top Paralympic player – Richel Lomocso.

A lot of raffled items including chess books were given to the lucky winners with free medical testing for ECG and FBS.

The tournament were supervised by Chief Arbiter Rolando Linan, Deputy Arbiters Bobot Rosanto Torres, Mario Perez of the National Association of Philippine Chess Arbiters (NAPCA).
