Members of the Philippine Team for the 2010 Chess Olympiad

As early as February, FIDE had already announced the deadline for the registration of teams for the 2010 Chess Olympiad - which is May 20.

In case the May 20 deadline isn't met, participating teams have until July 15 to submit the final composition of teams and captains.

Up to now, however, the Filipino chess community, I think, is still clueless on who the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) would send to the highly competitive Chess Olympiad.

If you would recall, I already conducted a poll on what system of selection the readers think the NCFP should use for the selection of RP Team members. Let me post again the results of that survey.

I would like to make another survey, this time focusing on the players themselves. So who do you think should compose the RP Men's Team which will represent the country in the 2010 Chess Olympiad?

I think we have a current RP Chess National Training Pool for Asian Games in Guangzhou, China in November 12-27, 2010. These players were recommended by NCFP & in the payroll of PSC:

1. GM Wesley So
2. GM Joey Antonio
3. GM Darwin Laylo
4. GM John Paul Gomez
5. GM Eugene Torre
6. GM Mark Paragua
7. GM Jayson Gonzales
8. IM Richard Bitoon

I believe, from this Pool, our Chess Olympiad Team composition will be drawn.

Learning from the Best Practices & success stories of our neighbors (China, India & lately Vietnam) they hire World Class Coaches & Trainers to train their National Training Pool.

It's high time that PSC & NCFP should realize this need.
