Didn't I tell you that the championship title in Ambank Chess Challenge, staged at the sideline of DATMO 2009 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was in the bag for Filipinos with a round to spare?
The triumvirate of Samson Lim, Jr., Rodolfo Panopio, Jr., and Roel Abelgas stamped their class in Malaysia to have an emphatic finish of 1-2-3, respectively.
They all piled up 7.0 points but Lim emerged the overall champion due to superior tiebreak points.
Indeed, chess gems are abundant in the Philippines. All we have to do is find them, polish them, treasure them, and take care of them.
