GM Paragua finishes 8th in Philadelphia Chess Open 2010

The official site of the Philadelphia Chess Open 2010 provided only two recorded games of GM Mark Paragua who finished 8th overall. Here are the games (requires java):

FILIPINO Grandmaster (GM) Mark Paragua turned back American Fide Master (FM) Jake Kleiman in the ninth and final round finished at eight spot in the recent Philadelphia Open Chess Championships 2010 at the Sheraton, Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, over the weekend.

Paragua, actually finished in a tie for 5th to 10th places with a total of 6.5 points but landed over-all eight placers after the tie break points was applied.

Other 6.5 pointers were GMs Jaan Ehlvest, Alexander Shabalov, Alexander Ivanov, Amon Simutowe and IM Robert Huganski.

Gata Kamsky scored 7 points then nipped fellow GMs Ray Robson, Alexander Stripunsky and Sergey Kudrin in tie break points to capture the title.

Another Filipino entry IM Angelo Young settled over-all 19th placers in the huge group of 6 pointers in the 127 player’s field in the Open section.
