GM Gonzales to hold charity simul

Calling all chess enthusiasts.

On its third tranche this year, the Meralco Chess Club (MCC) will host a fund-raising chess simul with a Filipino grandmaster for a social cause.

This time, GM Jayson Gonzales will do it. The first was with World Cup-bound GM Joey Antonio and the second, with Asia's first grandmaster Eugene Torre.

"The objective is to raise funds for the personal chess sets of the blind players of the Philippine PARA team (composed of blind and handicapped players)," said Rolly Cruz, MCC President.

"Hopefully, some of the collections we have will be donated to some chess players whose houses were totally flooded by typhoon Ondoy," he added.
