5th Pichay Cup awarding

World Chess Cup-bound GM Rogelio “Joey” Antonio Jr. receives his trophy and cash prize of US$2,167 from National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) president Prospero “Butch” Pichay Jr. (right) and secretary-general Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino Jr. (left). Antonio, a sergeant at the HSSG of the Philippine Army under Commanding Lt. Gen. Delfin Bangit, defeated Georgian GM Merab Gagunashvili in the final round after 32 moves of Pirc Defense to score 6.5 points to finish third over-all in the 5th Pichay Cup held at the Local Water Utilities Administration Bldg. in Katipunan Road Diliman, Quezon City.
