So it's obvious. GM Eugene Torre isn't playing in the 3rd Battle of Grandmasters because he was in Alberta, Canada to participate in the 3rd Calgary International Chess Classic.
Torre finished this 18-player field tournament (with 4 GMs, and 6 IMs) tied for second to fourth place with 6 points out of possible 9.0.
All I can say, however, is that the BOGM is a much tougher tournament than the Calgary International. Yeap, you read me right. I wanted GM Torre to have played in the 3rd BOGM as a better warm-up for the 2010 Chess Olympiad. The BOGM could have been another good opportunity for the RP Team members to bond with each other. As we all know, team competition requires more than skills from each member.
Perhaps, Torre's participation in that Canadian tournament was a prior commitment which he could no longer turn down. Nobody can blame him anyway because of the ever-changing schedule of the 3rd BOGM.
Anyway, congratulations to GM Torre for waving the Philippine flag in that international tournament!

We (spawn2,epistle, pulsar) dined with GM Torre before the AI and he mentioned that he would have joined BoGMs were the schedules not changed. He said he committed to the Calgary tourney earlier with the original BoGMs schedule in mind.
