"Unavoidable circumstances" in chess

As you all know by now, the Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri Cup National Rapid Chess Team Championship, which was originally scheduled for September 5 to 6, has been postponed.

Reason? “Unavoidable circumstances” as announced in the NCFP official website.

It’s not clear whether it’s the city government of Caloocan which called for the postponement or the NCFP. Re-scheduled dates “to be announced later.” No further explanation whatsoever.

What is clear is that a lot of teams which had already prepared for the event got annoyed and frustrated.

And what is sure is that the abrupt postponement will dent on Mayor Ehiverri’s image as host of a much-awaited national team chess event.
