RP's selection finals for Asian Indoor Games updates

In the women’s division of the ongoing RP’s selection finals for Asian Indoor Games, Christine Rose Mariano joins Beverly Mendoza and Bernadette Galas with perfect 2.0 points after two games to lead a pack of 13-player field.

I personally met Cristine during the last chess rapid event in Bangkal, Makati where she encountered a sorry experience. At the venue, I was introduced to her by the housewife of a chess friend. Christine recounted to me how she suffered from a “kicking incident” where she got allegedly kicked by somebody who happened to be a man.

We haven’t heard lately about Crisitine’s participation (or non-participation) in local tournaments. Her good start in the LWUA event could be an indication that she’s regaining her form. A veteran of RP Team in international competitions, Cristine indeed needs constant improvement especially now with the influx of new young Filipina talents.
