Fourteen-year old Angelo Vince Medina posted his fifth win to lead the 1st Florencio Campomanes Cup Memorial Tournament (Challenger) after six rounds with 5.5 points.
Just in case you overlooked his age, he's just 14. Impressively enough he defeated more senior players like Allan Sasot, Sherwin Tiu, and Gary Legaspi to jostle his way to the top of the ladderboard.
The Challengers section (based on my observation during the staging of the previous PGMA and Pichay Cups) used to be a homogenous field of Filipino players cutting each other's throats. It's now good to see that in this tournament, we see players from China, India, Russia, and USA.
Let's hope that more foreign players join the Challengers section in the future.

Si Emmanuel Emperado rin 5.5 pts, I think he's with La Salle as varsity and lately seeing more of him in the local tough tournaments.
Is he the son of Mila of Checkmate?
