1st Campomanes Memorial Cup (Women)

After Round 4 of the 1st Campomanes Memorial Cup (Women), the visitors continue to exhibit their competitive strength.

This early, the power of Vietnam's women's chess is making its presence felt with the explosive performance of WIM HOANG Thi Nhu Y (2187) who defeated the No.1 seed GM ZHAO Xue (2462) of China in Round 4. Zhao is the only full-titled GM in this tournament. Notably, HOANG also defeated No.3 seed WGM ZHANG Xiaowen (2390) of China in Round 2.

Out of the five early leaders (as of Round 4), two are Vietnamese. The other is WGM HOANG Thi Bao Tram (2338), now ranked 4th with 3.0 points.

I guess it is too obvious to say that Vietnam's women's chess is gaining strength.

Meanwhile, the campaign of Pinay ladies is now being led by untitled Jenny Rose Palomo, now with 2.0 points.

The other Pinay two pointers are WFM Catherine Perena, Rowely Acedo, Eibtizam Nahudan, WIM Cristine Rose Mariano, and Shercila Cua.
