GM-elect Dableo zooms in on the 2500 mark

GM-elect Ronald Dableo will try to move closer to finally snatching his full GM title by gaining more Elo points in the 4th PGMA Cup which kicks off today (September 24) at the Duty Free Mall in Parañaque City.

Dableo paraded an Elo rating of 2417 (FIDE July 2009 rating). I tried checking the FIDE site for the September 2009 rating of Dableo but the ratings of players under the Philippine chess federation are missing - again - in the said website.

Remember that Dableo gained 22 Elo points in the DATMO 2009 in Malaysia where he finished co-champ with GM Negi Parimarjan of India last August.

Dableo's campaign in DATMO 2009 was highlighted by his Round 4 conquest of Asian Zonal 3.3 2009 champion GM Darwin Laylo and GM Susanto Megaranto of Indonesia in the final round.

He earned his third and final GM norm in the said tournament but still needs to reach the 2500 Elo-mark to finally get the full GM title.

Based on my calculation, Dableo now has a live rating of 2439 going into the 4th PGMA Cup.

May he earn precious Elo points in both the PGMA and Pichay Cup to become the 12th(?) GM of the Philippines.
