A very exciting, neck-to-neck race between three players highlights the pace leading to the 11th and final round in the Women's Division of the Battle of Grandmasters 2009.
In the lead after 10 rounds is WFM Shercila Cua (2155) with 7.5 points (15 points), closely followed by WIM Beverly Mendoza (2045) who has 7.0 points, or 14 points and Sherily Cua (2143) who piled up 6.5 points, or 13.0 points.
Shercila, the elder sister of Sherily, has held on the lead up to the penultimate round after drawing her Round 10 match against Mendoza, her closest pursuer.
Not to be counted out yet is Sherily whose win in the last round against WNM Kimberly Cunanan (1991) is a must to have a chance to win the tournament.
For the last round, Shercila is pitted against WNM Ylem Rulp Jose (2054), while Mendoza will face WNM Jedara Docena (2001).
