Commercial chess

Good signs?

I used to read the labels "Milo" and "Shell" on streamers and posters about local chess tournaments.

Now I see new labels.

"Magnolia," "Barley," and maybe more?

What do the signs tell us? That RP chess has already won the precious attention of the business sector?

Possibly. Maybe. Probably. Likely.

One thing for sure: RP chess nowadays is making noise.

It doesn't take a genius to find out how to make that certain kind of noise - a noise that can lure the attention of the business people.

THE KEY: The chess community needs to come up with a shining star -- a chess player who can inspire the nation and the whole world.

And of course, the technology. Chess is fast becoming a spectator sport because of technology.

Just imagine watching LIVE a breathtaking match between GM Wesley So and a certain foreign GM right in the comfort of your home!!

Have you heard the noise over Barangay Wesley -- a result of a truly Shining Star and the power of technology?

Oh yeah, I am a proud Barangay Wesley citizen. A fanatic Wesleyan indeed!

The noise is real. This blog is part of that noise.
