Did you know that the Philippines missed a rare record-breaking opportunity for failing to participate in the 2009 World Youth Chess Championship in Turkey?
Did you know that the record holder for being the youngest FM is Tanuj Vasudeva of USA who earned the title at the age of 8 years and 2 months?
Did you know that the supposed RP's bet in the U-8 category - RP's 2009 U-8 champion Stephen Pangilinan - is only seven years old and 1 month today?
I have a very high regard for this very young, talented boy.
Let's say the RP contingent made it to WYCC and Stephen win his category. Wouldn't that be a record that the whole country can be proud of?
It might take long, long years for that opportunity to knock again on Philippine chess. What a lost opportunity. (IN PHOTO: Stephen Rome Pangilinan)
