Grassroots chess

I strongly believe that we need to develop and implement a realistic and effective chess development program starting from the grassgroot level to search for and hone our own Kasparov and Polgar.


The Malibay Chess Club is doing its humble share even if the dream seems farfetched. As they put it, "The smallest deed is greater than the grandest intention."

The photo above was taken during the 2nd Edang Rapid Chess Tournament recently held in Edang, Pasay City.

Tama ka. kumpleto na tayo sa materials, may chess books, videos, engines. Ang kailangan na lang, yung suporta from private people like you, at yung suporta ng magulang sa pagche-chess ng kanyang anak, kasama rito yung pagdisiplina sa bata na kailangan, academics at chess lang plus physical exercise. yung TV, video games, baraha, at iba pang kalokohan, dapat alisin muna. kesa magvideo, magbasketball na lang o mag jogging. nakaupo na nga ang chess, tapos libangan ay video games, nakaupo pa rin, masama sa katawan yon. Buti sana kung basketball player ang bata, libangan ay video games. Pero kung chess player ka, dapat ang libangan mo ay physical, hindi yung nakaupo ka pa rin.
