GM Wesley inspires 2011 National Age-Group Chess Championship

Talk about inspiration.

Not everybody has the gift to inspire. Only the gifted - and those who have exceptional success stories to share - can do it.

It's a big challenge to inspire an individual, a group, a community, a nation. But it's a totally different call - a moral one - to inspire the cream of the crop of our youth, the future chess heroes of our motherland.

Philippine youth. Chess. Inspiration. Today, no other name fits in. You know the answer.

GM Wesley So is scheduled to give an inspirational message in the opening rites today of the 2011 National Age-Group Chess Championship which will be held from April 8 to 12 in Lingayen,Pangasinan.

Sports officials and even national and local government can effectively deliver messages. But if I were in their shoes, I would give my time to somebody who is in the best position to INSPIRE.

Yes, give the stage to GM Wesley who can naturally charm 8-year-old, 10-year-old and older players to go for their dreams.

And if I were GM Wesley, I would veer away from giving away prepared speeches. Just feel the dreamy gazes from the eyes of the kids, feel their innocent stare, and speak what your heart tells you.

The best speech is not the one written by famous speech writers but the one filled with simplicity and sincerity and the intention to touch and move other people to victory.
