Pulsar

Philippine chess history can never be complete if we fail to include the development of the global Filipino online chess community.

And if we talk about the Filipino online chess community, it can never be complete without mentioning the name "Pulsar."

Pulsar who? Well, he's one of the colorful personalities in Pinoy chess cyberspace, particularly over Barangay Wesley at chessgames.com, a page dedicated to the chess exploits of the country's No.1 chess sensation GM Wesley So.

He's a chess fan - and a player too!! I write this feature about him simply because he's participating - yes, he's playing - in the ongoing 1st Florencio Campomanes Cup Memorial Tournament Challenger.

And wow, he's doing well. Unrated and seeded No.64, Pulsar (Emir Gamis in real life) has already piled up 3.0 points after four rounds, and now parading a rating performance of 2299. He drew with No.9 seed Albert Rivera (2170) in Round 1, won over No.35 seed Prince Mark Aquino (1917) in Round 2, drew with No. 7 seed Ric Portugalera (2177) in Round 3 and won over No.11 seed Ed Agagon in Round 4.

I'll feature some of his games very soon. So you better watch out.
