BY: MARLON BERNARDINOFORMER University of Manila (UM) standout Ruben Ondangan (in photo with kid) is storming through the competition, having won all five games and emerging the over-all champion in the just ended 2010 Lancaster California Chess Championships in Lascaster, California.
The Concepcion, Marikina native Ondangan, a Filipino Pastor in Lacaster, California who is best to remember winning the 2004 Hawaii Open Championships scored perfect 5 points in five outings to win the gold medal.
Craig Anderson (3.5 points) and Sheldon Brooks (3 points) won the silver and bronze, respectively.
